Welcome, EMILY!! We have LOTS of Houston FAMILY here on the TMB. What part of town are you in? I'd really like to encourage you to get involved in a LIVE support group meeting. It may be terrifying at first, but the right group can make or break your weight loss journey.

As for the OH conference-WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO TO CONVINCE YOU????? Many of are "old pros" at these conferences and can tell you what to expect. I often go, thiking "Oh crap--same topics..same speakers"..and still ALWAYS come away renewed, and wwith new info and new FAMILY. Talk to us-get to know us-let us get to know you-Post on the WLS Expres thread daily-that's the quickes way to get to know everyone. Feel free to PM me, if that makes you more comfortable

Thanks for the warm welcome!  I live west of Katy.  One of these days, the timing of live meetings will work with my schedule hopefully.  the further west a meeting is, the more likely I would be to make the effort to attend so I wouldn't have to go all the way into Houston

As for the OH Conference, I have already paid my entry fees for that weekend for the dogs to be in an agility trial...I just can't see throwing that money away.  Now, I might swing going to the evening part of OH and doing my dog stuff during the day.

I love you!

Let's see...I am a bandster, 6 years post op (its hard to believe its been that long) and am currently 33 lbs above where I was at my lowest. I hit 148 right after the marathon and it felt great. I stayed there for a while but 20 lbs slipped up on me. In the meantime I got remarried and am now pregnant- hence the additional 13lbs. As soon as the dr releases me I am going to start running again. I really miss running (no one tell Loralea...lol). At my lowest I had lost 140lbs. I had gone from a size 24 to a 8/10 (depending on manufacturer). I went from a sedentary lifestyle where walking caused me to become winded to running 13.1 miles just to see if I could do it. I want to do other 5k's and another Princess Marathon soon....I'm thinking 2012?

I had wanted to participate in some sort of exercise and one day Disney sent me an email about the Princess marathon. I mulled it over for a few weeks and finally and reluctantly forwarded it on to my OH friends.....when they all got excited about it I knew I couldn't back out. We set up training schedules and met just about every weekend in different parts of the metroplex to run/walk together. Through that experience and the functions/breakfasts I am a different person. I could not have come this far without my friends/family. There's no way I would have lost 140lbs on my own without the support of you all.

So for now- I am 26 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I have gained 13 lbs so far. I am eating differently than I have in the last 6 years and its scary. Some days I don't feel like I am getting enough in, other days I feel like all I've done is grazed. To go from an 800-1000 calorie a day diet to 1300-1500 calories is unnerving. Wrapping my mind around actually gaining weight (albeit baby weight) is a hard thing to do when I've been so driven for 6 years to make it come off. So come January I plan on losing the baby weight on the day he is born and then I plan on getting the 20 back off and then the additional 3. I know that all my friends and family have my back to help me do this....all I have to do is ask!

I miss you all very much! I can't wait till Houston!

Hi Gina...I have been meaning to post more often on this board.  I usually just lurk.  I am coming to the conference, and I am really excited. As many of you  may, or may not, know I am visually impaired.  Faces are very difficult for me to see, especially at a distance.  Even the avatars can be difficult.  So I am usually not very social at first.  If I do not approach anyone, it is not because I do not want to...I am usually just unsure.  In spite of that, please do not hesitate to introduce yourself.  I hope to be able to meet you guys.  I love the family aspect this board offers.

I am Anna - also known as Dasie.  I will celebrate my one year post RNY on Nov. 17th.  I have lost 109 pounds since my pre-op diet.  I have had no difficulties.  I am off all medications, with the exception of my thyroid med.  I am still in awe at the difference one year can make in the life of a post WLS patient.  I am so thankful for my surgery and this site.  Because I do not get out much, I have relied on OH each and every day for support and knowledge.  I honestly do not think I could have walked this path without this site.  Each and every time I had a question, someone somewhere asked it and the answers followed.

ANNA-I don't think I knew about your visual status-so glad you said something. I might think you were ignorning me (we ALL can still have self esteem issues-even loud mouths like me)-I WILL seek you out and hug your scrawny neck!

Hello everyone my name is Donna and I'm 7 yrs out. My starting weight was 266 and I'm now at 164. My lowest weight was 136. My family all said that I was too skinny. As long as I can maintain and not go any higher I guess that that will do. God has been so good to me through this journey. It's been hard the last year, I'm a big stress eater, but I know that it's all about choices that I've made that has put some of the weight back on. Still off of all meds and still feeling good. Would go through the surgery all over again. I praise God for allowing me to have this done 7 yrs ago!! Blessings to all, Donna

Here goes-

I'm Shelly and I'll be attending the Houston OH conference on my 49th birthday. I've lost 163 lbs. in the 2 years since I had my rny. I had plastics with the wonderful Dr. LoMonaco this summer. I am usually a little introverted, but I do hope to meet you all in Houston.

I am healthy, fit, and very into running now. Although I will always be built kind of like an offensive lineman in football, I am happy with myself.
Not my highest weight, but just before my surgery.

Me at the beginning of this school year.
